What have you got planned for your game in 2017?
If you had a successful 2016 with your game that’s fantastic! However if you missed some of your targets and the scores didn’t do your game justice you might want to take a different approach this year. After all, keep doing the same thing and you will get the same results.
Targets might include hit more fairways, make more greens in regulation or make more putts (my Pro Shot Card can help with that). You might even be happy with just better scores but what are you going to do differently this year to achieve those scores, get your handicap down or beat playing partners? There could be changes in technique and equipment but with such a big part of the game being played in the mind are you doing anything to develop a stronger mental approach?
When the mind perceives it has some control over a situation, regardless of whether it actually does or not it tends to settle down and experience calmness. It is therefore reasonable to suggest that we play our best golf when we are calm and fully concentrating on the shot in hand.
The sense of perceived control is massively important for your golf but it means making some changes to the way you play your game, changes which will help you achieve those targets in 2017.
